Photoshop (2007) Tony Nguyen
Simple picture I did a while back. I really like ominous and grand pictures like this. I’ll probably go back and do another version of this in the future just cause I like it so much.

This page is pretty basic. As you can see my motivation for drawing was starting to wane when I got to this page. Its much more of a transitional page then anything else.
On a side note I was drawing this page during my project presentations. They take so long that I managed to sneak in a few panels while waiting for my turn to present.

Fan art for a comic called Rain of Swords. The name of the comic has changed a few times and it has been restarted a few times as well. You can find the original comic Rain of Swords and the new comic Boy X Sword on the web. I actually like the outfit and it was really fun to draw. The comic itself is about a boy and a cool sword that can detect spirits. Its quite interesting and I suggest you check out both comics.

I like this page. It wasn’t too hard to do but it worked out pretty well. Each panel is detailed for its time and the chatter is quite fitting as well. I still think it’s a good page.
I tried to diversify each panel to keep it interesting.

This page signifies that there is indeed magic. Its also an effective if not cheap way of finishing the battle. I needed them to quickly end it and not drag the fight out too long.
WIT 2008
In this exercise a building was to be built in an idealized location. The location was a grassy incline somewhere in Boston. This building was to contain a famous sculpture and a famous painting. The main concept of this structure was to be a simple overhang that was pulled from the land. This concept of the overhang was included in the ramp system as well.
The overhangs played another important role and that was to block out the harsh summer sun. But during the winter months, sunlight is able to penetrate and warm the building.

First of many full scale war pages. I find pages like this to be both very satisfying to draw and plan out. It’s all about motion and energy. The slanted page is due to the fact that I stink at drawing straight lines and also my crappy scanner that scanned everything all skewed.
There is actually a single drawing that helped me get the feel for this page.

This page has a good flow to it. The action is moving pretty fast here but it works really well. Oh yeah… This comic is VIOLENT but its also cartoony. I doubt anyone will freak out.
Water Colors (2010) Tony Nguyen
It’s the world! I painted it because I wanted a map of the world and didn’t feel like buying one. Anyways there are a bunch of mistakes here and there and some land masses are incorrectly sized, but it’s quite accurate. Doing this was very fun and very different from my usual work. I really enjoyed making this and I recommend everyone to paint or draw the world. Mine is quite large but it really does help with geography and learning about where every country is. Like I didn’t know New Zealand was so far from Australia. I thought that they were’nt too far from each other but that body of water separating the two nations is quite large. Anyways do it! draw the world we live in!

My first attempts at creating some action. I feel like it flows all right. The raiders were quite fun to design. Some say they look like ninjas but they’re just sand raiders. They also have goggles for all the sand that is whipped up.
Oh and that’s Max in the armor, incase you are wondering.
