Chapter 1 Page 28

This page is quite a pivotal one. In terms of how I went about shading things. The last panels where the lighting is actually effecting the how Max is shaded really shows this. Before I had a type of gray for every part of a person and it was never different in different lighting. Now the shading just comes from what ever I want and so it blends better with the backgrounds and is much less rigid.

It actually didn’t take me long to get this page done. And the page was really scrambled when I drew it. Photoshop helped me reorder the panels.

Max took the most of that fight. Drawing the parents is also kind of fun. Max’s father is actually an important figure in Max’s past. He does things that are just slightly different.

Since this flashback was dragging on for so long I tried to hurry up the flow and I’m not sure if its good or not.

Max, Louis, and Mark, all as youngsters. I must say that it is quite fun to draw your characters as a kid and making them act like kids. There is actually a lot of detail in the backgrounds.

Max and Mark got off on the wrong foot back in the day.

Yay new scenery! It’s a flash in the past. This page was quite refreshing to do after drawing so many desert scenes and soldiers. I wanted the architecture in Max’s hometown to be a reflection of the simple farm town yet also add my own spin to it. The wooden buildings and the wind chimes help paint a quiet and breezy place as well.

This page has some funky perspectives. I like panel two the most just because of the angle. In the last panel the perspective didn’t turn out the way it should and the faces look all goofy.

Having friends and loved ones is an important part of finding comfort and getting through the tough times.
